Please join our community allies for economic justice at two events this week:

From AiKea:
Hawaii Can! Rally for Good Jobs for Everyone!
Thursday, March 13
4:45PM
Honolulu Hale

Support hotel workers as they fight for an end to hotels converting their rooms into condominiums.  These types of developments are lucrative for developers, but they hurt Hawaii’s residents.  Between 2006 and 2011:
3,250 jobs statewide were lost in the accommodations sector
Because of these lost jobs, over $30 million each year has been lost in tax revenue
Workers and community allies will be delivering a petition with 6,000 signatures opposing this dangerous trend.  Learn more here.

From Faith Action for Community Equity (FACE):
4th Annual Equity Summit
Saturday, March 15
First United Methodist Church (1020 S. Beretania Street)
9:00AM-3:00PM (registration opens at 8:30AM)

Join leaders and activists from the faith, labor, immigrants' rights, and allied communities for a day of workshops, plenaries, and actions.  The purpose of the summit is to gather different perspectives on a range of issues, including minimum wage, education reform, immigration reform, long-term care, clean elections and voter participation, and modernization of the electric grid.  Lunch will be provided.
Email Drew Astolfi at drewastolfi@facehawaii.org if you're planning to attend.
